Creative protest highlights Taliban's violence

Zafar Shah Rouyee
Civic activists gathered in Kabul to bring public attention to the atrocities committed by the Taliban under the leadership of Mullah Omar, whose death was recently confirmed by the Afghan government.
4.08.2015  |  Kabul

Held in Kabul’s Shahre Naw Park, the demonstration was organized by the Hambastagi (Unity) political party and attended mostly by women.

Participants carried banners that accused Mullah Omar of being stooge of Pakistan and the United States. The group also held street theatre performances depicting the Taliban’s past atrocities.

The demonstration took place at a time when several ceremonies were held in Kabul and a number of other provinces to pray for Mullah Omar.
